Is my CPU bottlenecking me?

Hi Guys,

I have a i7 3770K watercooled, clocked at 4,4GHz and a EVGA GTX 1080 FTW Hybrid in my system.
Now my question is does my cpu bottleneck me? In BF1 my FPS is at his lowest: 80 highest: 127 avarage: 90.
GPU is clocked at 2113Mhz core clock and memory clock 5500Mhz, no voltage added.
I'm gaming on a Asus MG278Q 144hz 2560x1440 monitor.

Solution
If your CPU is ~70% now, that means if you lower your graphical settings your framerate will rise, because your CPU still has some spare power to deliver more frames.
We can't tell you. However, you can check for yourself. Open a program like GPU-Z and look at your GPU's utilization. If it's significantly below 100% (let's say less than 90%) then your CPU is the limiting factor. If it's around 100%, your GPU is the limiting factor.

If your GPU is limiting you, lowering graphical settings will cause framerate to go up. If the CPU is the limiting factor, you can only buy a faster CPU.

Thx for you're quick response Ecky.
My CPU is running in to a 100% sometimes, mostly is it sitting around 90-100% of the usage. i monitor this with Real temp GT 3.70.
So i think i just have to lower my settings in-game then or accept the fps that i'm getting :).
I especially notice "lower" fps in Battlefield 1, so looked up the internet and found this topic where they give you some tips to get better cpu performance.

So i did try a few things;

Reinstalled my driver with DDU
Enabled hyperthreading
Changed a few things in the BF1 config;
gametime.maxvariablefps 145
RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit 2 (for me, also 1 or 3 is possible)
Checked if my cores were not parked and disabled Freq Scaling AC & DC
Enable C1E & EIST in the bios

Now my CPU usage is around 7O% instead of 90-100.
The game is running smoother, but i don't get that 144Fps.
So i will have to lower my settings in-game to get a higher frame rate...

I will do that, the GPU is sitting @ 99-100 usage in-game.
So i will lower my settings en see where we get and what we want :).

But isn't my computer strong enough to play this game on ultra & @ that resolution?
I thought i could get higher frames on ultra settings with this CPU and GPU.
