Is my CPU dead ??

Hey guys my motherboard is MS 7613 ver1.1 with i3 530@ 2.93 GHz ..today I got an i5 750 and so I removed the cooler and i3 and inserted the new i5 with new thermal paste.. and connected everything ...but when I power on the pc there is no display ...then I reinserted the i3 and it worked fine....
So what is the problem here???
Why don't I have display with the i5 ??
I tried restoring CMOS but nothing changed...plz help... also I booted with the gtx 760 as the i5 need a GPU...the CPU gets heated , so does the cooler...but no display and no light on keyboard. Plz help..

You may need a bios flash are you sure that cpu is even compatible. And at the same time what were you hoping to accomplish? Just curious as that's roughly a 10 year old cpu you are UPGRADING too, why you would do that in the first place

Yes the motherboard is compatible and I am upgrading because I got this for 1000INR ( about 15$) and also it has quad core.....but how to flash the bios.

Because someone who can't figure out how to flash the BIOS of an HP or Compaq probably has no business doing so. There are so many things that can go wrong even if one is careful.

try the following:
boot with i3 + GTX 760
enter the options of the bios to mark that it uses as output the discrete graph
boot and ensure works fine. shutdown.
change the cpu. ensure all the cables are plug.
Important do a clear CMOS prior to boot.

BIOS update is a risky operation that should only be done when necessary and knowing very well what is done, and following the instructions of the manufacturer of the mobo. Othewise you can dead your mobo.

This mobo, although it is manufactured by MSI, is a mobo of the prefabricated models of HP so the update of the bios should be looked for in the webs of hp. From experience I can say that you find little information, if you find it.

Anyway the I5 750 is older than the I3 350, so the BIOS supporting the I3 should also support the I5. Therefore I do not recommend you try updating the BIOS.

There is no need for bios update actually..because the i5 750 is older than i3 530 ...so if my current bios support the i3 , it will support the i5 also.... I tried resetting the bios . still no change....please help

To rule out possibilities:
Can fail the mobo, the CPU and the GPU.

Did you try i3 + GPU GTX 760? If they work can discart the GPU.

With a magnifying glass look carefully at the pins of the mobo and the cpu in case there is one that is bent or in poor condition. There is a (remote) possibility that a doubled pin is essential for the I5.

Be sure to connect the two power cables. Do not forget the 4/8 pin cable.
