Question Is my cpu defective?

I bought i5-3570 last week..but fan works but not booting...when I switch to my last cpu which is i5-2320 it boots fine...motherboard is Gigabyte-H61M-DS2 and bios is H6 which I know support gen 3 cpu...do I have anything to do or I can conclude that my new cpu is damaged?

have a look here - it says that your bios needs to be F7

I would put your i5 2320 back in, flash te bios to f7 and try again

searched it and my mobo version is revision 5.0 which has only till f6 bios but supports 3rd gen...sad
