Is my Desk big enough?

Hi I just wanted to get your guys advice I have a IKEA Micke desk it's 142cm wide and the depth is 50cm I wanted to get an ultrawide monitor (LG 25UM58) and be able to put my tower on top of the desk do you think I will have enough space?

Yes as far as width goes. Specs say the monitor is 24" wide which is 61 cm.

Without knowing the exact size of your case i took the size of an above average atx case for worst case scenario and converted it from inches to cm.

45cm height x 23cm width x 50cm depth (without feet)

The case should fit on the desk in the depth dimension but just barely.

50cm desk = 50cm depth


Now for the other dimensions


As for the monitor 25 inches is 63 cm, too early to do the math for the curve.

Let's just call it 24 inches or 60 cm.


If the case is flat and length-ways on the desk it should fit.

142cm (desk) - 45cm = 97cm of free space

97cm of free space - 60cm monitor = 37cm of clearance.


If the case is standing up and length-ways on the desk it should also fit.

142cm (desk) - 23cm = 119cm of free space

119cm of free space - 60cm monitor = 59cm of clearance.

Personal preference for me is tower below the desk so I don't have to hear it as loudly.

That would allow you to get an even bigger monitor

Just to give you an idea of spatial arrangement and clearance, my previous desk (an older PC build I made way back in 2015) was the same width as yours (at 142cm) but deeper (at 60cm). I was using Dual Monitors, an Asus PB298Q 29" ultrawide (measures ~70cm in width) and a Samsung 27" (measures ~65cm in width), alongside a Corsair Spec-03 case (footprint of ~20cm x ~50cm):

With your LG 25UM58 ultrawide at only ~60cm wide (a slightly smaller monitor in comparison to the Asus PB298Q 29"), you'd have a much larger clear desktop area than my old build shown above. You might be able to put another LG25UM58 beside it at a 30/45-degree angle and it will still fit the IKEA Micke desk.
