Device Mgr shows my nic as "Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet" .... however, when I go into Properties->Advanced->Speed and Duplex, I see no option for 1000 mb or gigabit. The machine is a few years old, Dell Vostro, Win 7 Pro.

So, do I have a gigabit nic or not?

Thank you for any clarification!

Yes that is a Gibabit card. Should be no settings to modify.

Do you have it connected to something that can deliver 1Gbps, like a router or switch?

You can always check your actual connection speed in the bottom right hand corner on the taskbar. Or fire up Resource Monitor or Task Manger to check network performance.
