I feel like the guy mounting it could have pushed it more until only the backplate is visible..

It looks square.
That may be as far as it goes.
If it works I would leave it be.

Looks fine to me.
If it wasn't pushed in all the way, the clip wouldn't be locked.
And i f it wasn't pushed in all the way, you would be having issues with your display output and with crashes.

I can't see any of the contact pins being exposed which means that it's all the way in the slot.
