Is my graphics card not good enough for the monitors I'm looking to get?

Solution

Sometimes you might end up having to upgrade most of your system. What is your current mobo and CPU, PSU etc.?

So does that mean the monitors in my OP aren't a good fit for my graphics card?

It isn't a perfect fit,but it'll do untill you have money for a better card.
I know a guy that has a 750 Ti and he EASILY plays games at 1080p at medium settings.High on some older games, like CoD 4,Crysis 2 and BF2 Bad Company

I accidentally picked this as solution opps.

kinda. pros of 144hz: fluidity, even on desktop with the mouse, a lot less motion blur, often very low input lag, response times. contra: they are all tn panels so the colors are abysmal, viewing angles are atrocious.
with vsync off 144 hz will be an advantage even when you are only manage to have 60 fps or lower. peripheral inputs will be snappier.

but since you only play slow games, go with a good ips panel.

Everything is fine in that setup apart from the 550Ti. You could do better with a more powerful card. the 2500K is a great CPU. If you want to get 144hz monitor to full use, you will have to get a 280x or 780Ti and above. Something in the $200+ region. These will require a 750Watt PSU, unless you go for a Maxwell GPU which is more expensive again.

What if I went with the IPS monitor? How much would I need to spend on a new GPU?

OK so mostly RTS & RPG types. You will not require a beast of a card then. Something like an R9 270X or else a GTX 760

Alright, IPS monitor it is. And I guess I'll pick up a graphics card if there's a good sale.

Thanks alot for helping, really saved me alot of time and hassle. This site's awesome.
