Victoria 4.46 shows me 05 reallocated sectors counts' raw value = 5432. And it's increasing for about 60 a day! Does this mean my hdd is dying?:??:

This is why many of us, and everyone should, have a backup solution.

For instance...if my C drive were to die right now, I've lost nothing critical. Just have to reinstall the OS and applications. All the data lives elsewhere. And if the SSD that holds my "Documents" dies....all of that is already copied over to another drive.
The entire Music library lives on two different PC's.
Personal pictures live on 3 different drives. One of them completely offsite. I could never recreate a picture of my grandson at age 2.

If my main PC were to go up in smoke right now, taking 4 drives with it (2 x SSD and 2 x HDD)....I would be back up and running in 48 hours. With zero loss of data.

yep moonpie, consider yourself lucky, you'll be fine and end up just with a whole in the wallet. every one of us has seen hdd-s fail and i'm sure most are keeping backups because this same happened to them too. i'm pretty sure you'll never be caught in this situation any time soon.

You mean to tell me this is a warranty case?! Really? That would be so good to be true 😛

1.5 year old laptop? Yes, the drive is probably still under warranty.

They would take it? Won't they just say something like "it's not defective, you broke it yourself and we are not gonna fix that"?

Bad sectors = bad drive. It happens. Where did you buy it from?

Russian tech store similar to Best Buy.

Can't hurt to ask. New hard drives are usually 3-5 years warranty. I have no experience with Russian stores.

I guess I need to find papers for my laptop, to find out. But I think I'm not going to do that, because what I've actually remembered is that warranty repair takes 40 days, and that's not acceptable right now. I guess there's no way to avoid hole in my wallet) So anyway, thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it :)
