Is my monitor repairable

So while I was moving out of my college dorm for the summer I placed my computer monitor on top of a basket full of stuff. I did not realize until I go to my car that a piece of metal had put some small scratches in to the top part of the screen. I believe it is a dell st2420l. Here is a picture of the damage after I hooked it back up to my computer. There is about a 1" margin on the right side of the monitor that is just white.

No it isn't repairable. Sorry to say so. Might only get worse when the crack spreads further.

It would require a replacement LCD panel to fix the problem. Since the LCD panel itself is basically the most expensive component of a monitor, I recommend you just by a new monitor.

I suppose you can bring it to a repair shop and ask how it would cost to fix it; both cost of the LCD panel and labor.

Here a replacement of a LCD panel from a Dell laptop, including labor will cost about 300 Euro. Don't think a regular screen will be much cheaper to repair. Better buy a new one.
