Is my motherboard compatible with Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 8gb

Hi i was just wondering if my motherboard is compatible with my graphics card? I am looking at buying this video card

Yes your motheboard supports thecard. Just make sure you have the latest bios.

I'm seeing that the pci-e 3.0 slot where the video card is placed is very close to the RAM locks. I do not think I should have any problems placing it?
I also see that the heatsink of the chipset over comes out and would not be touching the edge of the video card's shell?

On the RAM locks make sure all locked before installing the card. If you add more RAM you may have to remove the card then unlock those. Then reinstall the card after the RAM is locked. Just make sure the case supports the length of the 1070. The card is 280mm long or 11 inches which means it hangs over the motherboards egde by about 1.5 inches past the red square marks.

If the BIOS in your PC (ASUS motherboard) will allow the GTX 1070 to run in legacy mode and the GTX 1070 will agree to the compatibility handshake then the GTX 1070 should work. Check with ASUS.

The reality is that there is no guarantee that any particular graphics card will work in any particular PC even if the graphics card works in other PCs or even the same or similar model PCs. Know what the return policy is before you buy.

Unless you have an overwhelming need to run in legacy mode then I would suggest that you install a fresh copy of W10 in UEFI mode. You'll get faster boot times and increased protections against malware and viruses.""

What do you recommend, make a new installation of windows 10

I suggest when you get the card uninstall your old video drivers. Then get DDU to remove all its leftover configs. Unplug your PC from the wall and ground yourself on the case. Take your old card out if you have one and the install the new one. Start up your PC and download new drivers. Install the drivers and your good.

Now if you have an issue then worry about reinstalling windows 10 or changing bios settings.
