Hi,

I built this computer with an amd a10-5800k.

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1904010/build-gaming.html

My temps according to CPUID run from ~ 39 to 86 degrees C. THat seems hot to me.

I just built the system and all i have done thus far is down load / install software.

The case is an Antec - one case .........

Any ideas? what should i do?

another comment.....temp is up and down up and down........not sure whats going on.

bng, where do you get the 41C. using the program you specified speccy I can get as high as 70 to 80 same as hw monitor.

I am lost ......even with an aftermarket cooler I am going to have a problem.......I think..........

just lost .......very very frustrated!

any suggestions on aftermarket cooler would be appreciated..........as well............

well, the recommended max temp from amd i think is around 75C, which is what they say so it runs safe for a long time. going over for a little bit wont do damage. your right around their 75 anyway. whats the airflow like in your case? how many fans do you ave and where are they located?

Lol, I think I see the problem :p. Are you looking at the fahrenheit? You should be looking at celcius though... Also, your screenshot showing speccy on the right side, on the bottom right corner you can see 41. That is the temperature in >degrees< of your CPU. You are fine.

Edit: I see your 87 degrees celcius now, I think it is just a bug... the rest of your temperatures are normal...

how do I determine if it is a bug or not? for sure? I am putting this computer together for a friend and I told him we could build a better one and learn at the same time and if I give him the computer and then it starts to have issues....well it wont go over well ...........

I want to believe that you're right that its nothing to worry about............the 87C that you see in the picture is the max reading that was observed ........the temp varies.........underhigh cpu usage it goes up and then under low cpu usage it goes down

where does it say 87C max? i looked at the pictures but couldnt see it. and thats how it should be, when the cpu is under more stress it will become hotter. can i ask what your doing to make it run that hot? are you gaming or is this just everyday use?

you are getting 87 Celcius or 87 Fahrenheit? ona picture it says 87 fahrenheit in parentheses, and thats 31 Celcius. those are completely normal. 87 Celcius is about 200 degrees fahrenheit, which is way too hot for a pc on idle pretty much. how many fans do you have in the case?

25C idle and 39C max. showed by TMPIN0 are very good temperatures and that 87C under package is just a big lie. I'll give you an example: on my 750k when it's 40C on TMPIN0 it shows 71C on package and yours shows 87C at package when it's 39C on TMPIN0 (which i repeat it's the same as BIOS shows for CPU temperature). A friend installed HWMonitor and it showed 14C on package for his FX6300. I'm telling you, just forget about what HWMonitor shows on package.

i did a little looking around, and it seems the package temperature is the entire cpu, and its only an estimate i think. because of that its buggy and shouldnt be payed too much attention. if your package tempurature is that high, your core temps should be significantly higher too. id just make sure the core temps are below 45C on idle. when using id say you'll be right around 50 to 60 celcius, which is perfectly fine

if I forget about the "package" values then the computer temps are fine.

the third column (the last col) on the HW monitor showed 87C (celcius) as the max temperature found during that operation of the HW monitor.........and this was on the "package" designation not the TMPIN0

can someone tell me what the TMPIN0, TMPIN1, and TMPIN2 values respresent?

alin,

one more question........when I run the other cpu temp programs like speedfan and Speccy ......the temps reported by both of these agree with the HW-monitor package values.............

any thoughts?

Because the thermal diode is not inside the CPU like Intel CPU's have, that package temperature is just an assuption of the internat temperature of the CPU. But, as i told you, you can't believe it since it shows 3 different things on 3 different CPU's, all AMDs. Just forget about it. I've spent 2 months monitoring the temps with all the sofwares i could get and i realised i was worried for nothing. I had an 86C reading by the HWMonitor at the package with the stock heatsink and my CPU ran for 1 year like that with not even a single crash or sign of overheating. So, leave it, your CPU is fine and it will be! Cheers!

boy I hope your right..........cause I sure don't want to spend any more money and my friend will kill me .....well not really but he will tell me he was right and he should have bought a dell or something..........

does Hw monitor document this "diode" for amd vs intel anywhere?

thanks again.

Everywhere i looked i found that temperatures readings on AMD are not accurate because of the thermal diode position. I'm telling you from my experience, don't believe what HWMonitor says on Package. I always believed what BIOS showed and it's fine. Under 30C idle and 40C max. is what i get from an aftermarket cooler and you get that from the stock cooler, but the difference is that i have much higher internal temperature compared with 23C on your system.
