A friend of mine gave me his old joystick and i can't find any driver support for it
It's a Gravis eliminator and according to the manual it's compatible with Windows 95, 98, and 2000 YEAH I KNOW.....OLD!!
But a gift is a gift & if at ALL possible I'd like to be able to use it! It has a USB type cord & I'd like to post a picture of it but don't know how
I'm such a N00B! Lol

You plug it in, see if you get a popup in the notification saying "Your device is now ready for use" or check Windows' device manager to see if you get an unrecognized device instead.

Once the joypad has been installed, start your games and see which one will accept it as a standard DirectInput controller. Many games only support XBox controllers or no controllers at all. For those, you'll need to install software to map DirectInput to keyboard/mouse input.

it says "Setup incomplete because of a metered connection" Whatever that means! in fact now that I look EVERYTHING says that!

ok so I've changed the settings to be able to download over metered connections opened a few games but its not working even though all the buttons are lit up on the joystick
would this page help me? http://members.driverguide.com/driver_search.php?q=Advanced+Gravis+Gravis+All+Gravis+controllers&si=a691006c0978601ac0e3367db489f42c&st=1514760707&ref=detail&gqm0=Advanced+Gravis+All+controllers

Once the generic DirectInput joystick driver is installed, the Gravis gamepad should work with games that support generic DirectInput pads. If your games still don't work with it, then they either don't support generic DirectInput devices or have some other issue with it.

The D-Pad on my Eliminator was pretty hopeless, extremely sensitive in the down and right directions. That's another reason why I gave up using it a long time ago with the number of games that were D-pad only.

How do even find THAT out? Sorry man I'm just lost with this whole thing! 🙁

went through device manager etc as suggested. says it's working properly but i can't get any buttons to work. I also see this but don't now if it means anything.

I'm wondering if a macro software would help?
