Is my PC good enough to run Subnautica

Hello I got the game Subnautica and it plays fine but then it keeps not responding for 30 seconds then will go back to normal constently. Is this a GPU, CPU, or RAM problem?

Here are my specs:

HP Compaq Elite 8000 SFF
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Processor 3.0-GHz, 6M L2 cache, 1333 MHz FSB with vPro Technology
8GB DDR3 RAM
250GB HDD
PNY Nvidia Geforce 730 GT Low profile 2GB

I can't say for sure but it sounds like game lag, the computer is not able to process the information fast enough. But it could also be an internet connection issue, you should check your download/upload speeds.

Your weakest link looks to be the GPU while the processor is next. Our biggest roadblock is the PSU, the SFF version of this system comes with a 240W power supply unit (PSU). This is not much and the system looks to use a non-standard PSU design, so replacing it is not likely.

This leads us to a bad place for GPU replacement. You require a low profile card and a new GPU's power consumption would have to match your current card. Now comes the big question, which version of the GT 730 do you have? If you have the 128-bit version of this card then the best replacement is another GT 730 card but which is 64-bit, GDDR5.

So it is critical to know exactly which make and model that you have. Is it this one by any chance

which is a 128-bit DDR3 card. If you do have a 128-bit card then this would be a good replacement

I also looked at upgrading your processor, I would not go above the 65W power draw of your current E8400, a significant improvement would mean getting a Q9550S which is the 65W version of this processor. But you might want to see if the change in GPU is enough before you look at this.

Thank you for this info! I never really knew the difference between the 128 bit and 64 bit! This is also wierd because i spent more on that pny card when i could get a better one for cheaper!
