I have purchased a new retail copy of Windows 8 to install on the second hand pc I bought recently. The existing OS 7 appears to be dodgy and i do not know of another way of replacing it but via a clean install with a new set of discs. I went for win 8 not win 7 because the win 8 pro version was a good deal and i was assured that i could use it to do a full install and wipe of everything currently on the pc.
However the small print says the existing OS 7 has to be legit for the upgrade via the discs to work. If I cannot upgrade/install with the new set discs because of this, what do I do? Have I got a defunct pc?
The seller of the pc has no install discs, activation key or user passwords to give me.
