is my corsair cx500m power supply enough to power an r9 390? by the way, i dont plan on overclocking at all. would you recommend the 970 instead?

R9 390 recommends 650w. if you had a good quality 500w I would say you could get away with it, but the CX series is known to fail when pushed.

the EVGA 650G2, XFX TS 650, or even the Seasonic SII 620 would all be better choices.

970 does perform better at 1080p, but slightly. It's all preference.
