Question Is my power supply enough?

Alright, my PC currently has an i5 8400, GTX1080, 16gb Ram and a bequiet straight power 10 80+ gold 500W power supply. I plan on upgrading to an i7-8/9700k and a GTX1080ti. Do you think my PSU will be adequate?

Another question: if the PSU isn't powerful enough, could it brick the components or just itself ☠?

GTX 1080 said to be a 180 watt unit.

I'd think you would be borderline OK IF, I say IF that is a decent power supply.....I have no idea about that.

Yeah I've been running it for years with the i5 and GTX 1080 with no issues whatsoever, I just think i7 and 1080ti might be pushing my luck 😝

Yup pushing your luck.
Budget in a quality 650/750w psu.
You don't want a psu going south and taking out 1/2 the pc innards.
