This is very false. There are plenty of companies that make good and even better PSUs than many of the PSUs made by those companies. They are just the names people default to.

True, but those companies are widely regarded (Seasonic especially) as the most reliable. Sure other companies (Cooler Master I know makes some good ones) make decent PSUs, but I'd never go with anything other than the ones I listed (And possibly CM)

I can agree with the 2 posts above. if you want to know if the power supply you are after is good. try and find a review of it on jonnyguru or techpowerup. they test PSU, dissemble them, determine the OEM (the actual manufacture) and analyse all of the components and performance. im not a fan of thermaltake PSU's (I personally use the brands listed by GPUxTSAR)

There are TONS of bum Corsair units. Way more than the CX series. Evga also has some barely average units.

I would buy a PC Power and cooling, Super Flower, or Be Quiet (don't get them in America and I'm PISSED) before I ever bought a Corsair PSU.

True, but the vast majority of those company's PSUs are of very good quality. Though I agree with Be Quiet!. I too wish NA would get their products (I always wanted a Dark Rock Pro 3)

Almost 50% of Corsair units are barely average quality. I don't even use their name when recommending PSUs anymore.

Where as VERY SINGLE Super Flower, XFX, Seasonic, Antec unit is much better than average.

I agree, those big names are who to recommend, but Corsair in my opinion is not one of them.

That's why I only recommend the high quality ones. The lower end models also sell way better for some reason so that's why 50% of Corsair units are "meh"

Because people think it is good because it says Corsair on it. I'm working my best to help set that myth straight. In reality Corsair has ZERO PSUs which are the best price/performance in ANY price bracket.

As a company, aside from cases, they really don't have much to offer.

Hmm. I suppose you're right about price/performance (Corsair units in Canada are ridiculously overpriced). But Corsair does make some decent stuff like RAM and AIO coolers (Though they apparently leak quite a bit, but apparently Corsair compensates for damaged parts). I agree though that their cases are pretty good.

Corsair RAM is the same as every other DDR3 RAM there is. It all comes from the same factory so it is all the same. Corsair's is overpriced.

Their AIO coolers can be beat at EVERY price point by an air cooler and their top of the line ones get OWNED by other AIO coolers that are cheaper. I currently own and use a $50 air cooler than benchmarks the exact same as an h100i.

Corsair sells their name and you get a half decent product attached. Sadly this is the truth.

The Corsair AX 1500i is the first and only psu to score a perfect 10 on jonnyGURU. You need to look at each model and not make a general blanket statement. Rosewill is a good example most of their psu are not very good but they also have some good ones. At $25 to 50 the Corsair CX are decent psu with a decent 3 year warranty. Most other psus in that price and power range are real junk with iffy warranties.

Most of Rosewill's units are average and they make some VERY good ones. They really don;t make any 100% junk units.

For the price you can get an EVGA which will be better than an CX unit and has a 3 year warranty. Or an Antec VP/ Basic unit with is significantly better than both.

I have seen WAY too many CX units fail and ruin systems to even recommend them, even in low load builds. They are made with known cheap capacitors and lied about it on the packaging for YEARS.

I agree that the AXi units are GREAT, but that does not offset the rest of their not so good and VERY old (TX and most of HX) units.

Well Corsair RAM in Canada is priced exactly the same (If not $2-3 more) than any other brand (Except the grossly overpriced Dominator series). Pretty much all AIO water coolers are beat by the NH-D14 and PH-TC14PE from any brand, though Corsair's does seem to be more expensive than other brands (An H80i is priced higher than the superior Kraken X40 by about $15). You've proved to me that their PSUs are overpriced though. After some quick searches I found out that 650w Corsairs are the same price as 80+ Gold fully modular XFX 750w PSUs.

Corsair pulls alot of tricks. Recent example: They release the RM units. The 450,550,650,1000 are all perfectly fine. Overpriced, but fine. There there are the 750 and 850. These are more relatively priced and the ones most people are inclined to buy due to wattage and price. But wait. ONLY these two (750 and 850) are made with the junk capacitors and are just as bad as the CX units. They released the 1000 and 650 first. These got Great reviews. People wanted more RM units. Boom the throw the 750 and 850 in there and people buy them up because they think they are are the quality as the 1000 and 650. Just on this forum I have seen quite a few systems be taken out by an RM750, which is basically a glorified CX750.

Wow... That's at Kingston levels of shadiness. I suppose you're right about Corsair PSUs not being what they should be. I'll definitely remember to keep this in mind for future reference

EVGA's new line of low price psus are relatively new so it's hard to say. I would not list HEC as a good oem. Antec seems to have withdrawn from low price psus. You have to sells tons to make money. My pint is before you buy do your homework to see how good the reviews are and the value to you base on selling price and sevice. Don't just go by the brand.
