Is my PSU big enough?

I notice that while the specs for the card say 500W recommended, it also says the card requires 2 x 8-pin connectors. My PSU only has a 6+2 pin and 6 pin connector. Will the card work if the 2nd header is only fed 6-pin?

Do you already have that 980? If not it would be best to get a 980 with two 6pins instead of two 8pins for use with that power supply.

You could use a 6pin to 8pin adapter with that card, it wont hurt anything. Worst case it might affect how high of an overclock you can achieve.

I won't be overclocking at all. Yes, I already have the card. Well, I have it bought anyway. I guess I'll have to wait and try it. I don't want to use a Molex adapter.

I don't know.
Earthwatts is usually of good quality and should deliver amps as advertised.
You may need to use a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter which will come with the graphics card
as well as a molex to 8 pin adapter.
The power consumption of your card is 178w on the spec sheet.

But, your card requires two 8 pin connectors.
Each 8 pin connector can deliver 150w.
Added to the 75w from the pcie slot, I calculate the max draw as 375w.
All that does not add up.
You can try it.
If you hear the psu fan spinning up and struggling, you may need to go to a stronger psu.
If the power supplied is insufficient, look for display artifacts.
One solution might be to tune down the factory overclock.
