Question Is my PSU dieing?

Lately the computer turns off on its own, usually from sleep mode I think, and I cant turn it back on with the power button. I always have to flip the psu switch off and back on, and voila the power button works and it starts just fine.

Is this a sign of a failing psu? or something else?

My psu is a Corsair cx600m, pretty mediocre- lowend psu, and it pretty old too.

Edit: new psu for two weeks now, all problems solved.

What other specs?

download hwinfo,
install and open it=click run,
close the top window which is the system summary,
in the main window at the left top click "save report",
at the bottom of the next window check "Summary for Clipboard",
after that you'll see what's in the pc,
copy by clicking "copy to clipboard" and rightclick+paste in your next respons

I changed cmos battery with one lieing around, and reset bios, and disabled the C6/C7 power states in the bios.

I may return that psu I bought to replace it, if this works. Here's hoping!

Wel since pretty old and not the best could you just replace the psu,but first just lets wait if this will help.

It has the Japanese capictors, while the cx600m has the cheap chinese ones.

But if its working, I wont bother changing it.

I ended up putting in the new psu and throwing out the 5 year old cx600m.

The old one continued to have problems: fan made noises and struggled to spin; psu shutdown during gaming and required flip switch to start again. Looks like its the psu after all.

It was a bit risky with that failing psu, it could've ruined my system.

Upgraded the stock cpu cooler to a Cryrorig H7 and its done. Max temp went from 100c to 65c.

This whole rigs final cost was 750cdn.

Those temps will certainly help too,good choice.

Now for some cable management ..... 😁
