Hi guys, i recently upgraded my pc (from a rx480 to a 1660 super) and i was about to buy a new CPU. Problem is i have a i5-7400 CPU and i was looking to buy a 3700x or 3600. As a PSU i have a Corsair cx450m will it be enough?

i benched the 1660 super and all the system on Heaven benchmark on ultra and it was fine, no crash, no stuttering, no nothing. I don't know how much my currently CPU does consumes, so i was wondering if a ryzen 3000 would be fine on this PSU. Thanks a lot

Solution
Bought it in 2017

thanks dude, do you know how much wattage does the 3600 consumes?

Maxed out about 80w, 1660 super has a peak of 130w.

So both maxed would only just go over 200w.

Add another 100w max for everything else (and thats overestimating madly) and you still have loads of headroom.

Under a gaming load I doubt you'll hit 250w for the whole system realistically.

That psu is absolutely fine, would still be fine for a 3700x.
I'm pretty sure it should be fine ! however since the cx series aren't the best quality, if you plan to overclock or anything you might need something with more power or better quality but if you don't intend to do that then i think it should be fine for you ! hope everything goes well 😀

Thank you bro, thanks a lot!

Just like any other pc parts or machines, PSU will also deteriorate over time. Anything starting from the gold standard and onwards has a tendency to last longer than the given warranty period by the manufacturer.

Though, the Corsair CX series has a decent reputation for its build quality in its baseline series of power supplies.

alright, thanks a lot dude! i'm glad my PSU is not that bad. thanks everyone for the responses!

Thanks for the response! i heard there are some Corsair's series of PSU that are bad, and some are fine. Anyway i'm not planning on OC. Do you think even a 3700x will be fine?
yeah, i'd agree with the rest of the responses and say that it should be totally fine !! hope you enjoy your upgraded parts 😀
