Ok so as the title says I'm just trying to find out if I will be good with my current psu or not with a gpu upgrade.(i am lucky enough to have found some retail gpus in my area)
My current build is
Rog strix atx mobo
Ryzen 7 3800x
16gb ddr4 (2 sticks of 8gb)
Hyper 212 evo cooler
Ax3000 wifi card
Gtx 1080
512gb m.2 name
2tb hdd 7200rpm
Evga 650w gold psu

I want a 3070ti or a 3080. all psu calculators are giving me very different answers so I hope someone can put into perspective if my current psu is strong enough to support the upgrade. Thank you in advance

3080 Founders is going to take two 8-pin PCIe connectors and adapt to their 12 pin standard connector. Gives them '375W' to play with.

Mostly seeing dual 8-pin on the lower end, a few 8-pin + 6-pin, but all the high end cards are using 3 8-pin.

Running my FTW3 3080Ti at stock settings, actually reads the full 350W under load. Uses three 8-pin connectors which is all my RM850x has after the EPS connectors are populated. Haven't dared flip it over to the performance vBIOS. Seems to be boosting just fine the way it is (back to my computer being quite the space heater, reminds me of my GTX580 days)
With either of those cards, I would say no. You are looking at 300 to 350W from the cards under a full load. But that is only part of the story. 30 series is known for its large power spikes that can trip over current protection on smaller PSUs. You should look at getting an 850W PSU.

Stock GTX1080 are pretty lightweight at 180W, but there were certainly models that could draw a lot more.
