Is my quad core only a dual core?

I have a ryzen 5 1400 it is a 4 core 8 thread processor. In task manager, it says only 2 cores and 4 threads. Also, I have core temp (application for CPU temps) and it also says 2 core 4 thread. Why do they say this if the processor is 4 core 8 thread?

Are you on the latest BIOS update for your motherboard? Read through this afterwards.

Have a look in msconfig, sometimes you can remedy this problem there, depending how Windows has set it.

Updating bios is good advice. If Windows got confused, there may be a hardware glitch. Doesn't necessarily mean it'll cause problems down the road if you can fix it in msconfig. This can also happen if Windows wasn't reinstalled after a cpu upgrade.
