Is my Rig enough for a GTX 1070?

I got 1080P monitor at 60Hz,

CPU : i5 - 2400 Clocked at 3.4Ghz.
RAM : 3 x 4Gb 1333Mhz (12Gb).
PSU : Seasonic 650W

So will it be better to get my hands on GTX 1060 or a 1070?

it's 12 GB - but at 1333MHz which if I remember correctly makes a difference with DDR3
if it was an i5 3400 I'd say yes sure, but the i5 2400.... that CPU doesn't support PCIe 3.0 so I'm sceptical to being able to profit of a 1070 at all tbh. but it's late and I'm tired, I good be a bit over-dramatizing 😀

+Idosho Off the bat, I think the GTX 1060 would be a good fit. Not because your CPU is under-powered. Matter-of-fact, a new i5-6400 is only about 15% - 20% faster than your i5-2400; excluding onboard graphics. Your CPU is certainly powerful enough for a GTX 1070. I would suggest a 1070 only if you plan on upgrading to 1080p @ 144+ Hz or 1440p.

On the other hand, I buy computer components that I don't need, all the time. If you simply want the GTX 1070 then buy it. Personally I never justify anything to myself. If I want something then I buy it.

PCIE is backwards compatible anyways, and it's not like they use the full bandwidth of a PCIE 3.0 x16 slot! 😉
DDR3 vs DDR4 was not as big a jump as some think, although it was quite significant, DDR3 memory is by no means obsolete, even at that frequency.
Capacity is more of the concern. 😉

so long as the game is GPU bound you're fine even with i5 2400. mind you a lot of "PROS" around here will relate to benchmarks at 1024x768 just to prove CPU performance which is kinda weird because i don't see the point of an i5/i7 playing at that resolution. but in REALWORLD scenarios the difference is negligible (1080p onwards).

Hey so thanks, but what I dont get is, in matter of bottlenecks,
is it possible that cpu will do that while he is not being used 100%,
i mean, at 50~60% of use and still bottleneck the gpu?
and do you know how hard the bottleneck will go?
because ill have but any benchmarks of i5-2400 with 1070, didn't find.
