will this work m.2 1tb work with my board and how do I install it? Does it go into a pci slot and no sata cable connected? My manual says the sata 1 port will become unavailable once an m.2 is plugged in. My windows is on a ssd already Im sure its on sata 1. Does this mean its not possible to have both?

Solution
Yes it's compatible.

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z270-A-PRO/Specification

"Support up to PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA 6Gb/s"
"Supports 2242/ 2260 /2280/ 22110 storage devices"
"1 x M.2 slot (Key M)"

It goes into an M2 slot....no SATA cable.

...as far as your SSD....you would just move it to another port.

but you will probably have to go into the BIOS and make sure your boot order is correct after you do this move.

Make sure the Windows SSD is at the top.
