Hi !
I am considering buying new GPU next summer, and I thought gtx 970 would be good one. It is quite powerfull and it is in my budget (around 400€). Now the question is, would it be an overkill with my current CPU, Amd fx 6350. If it is, would overclocking solve the problem, and if not, what GPU should I buy then.

Also, will it fit my case?

Full specs.

- CPU = AMD FX-6350 6 Core 3.9 GHZ 14MB 125W PIB AM3+
- GPU = GIGABYTE Radeon R7 260X OC, Windforce 2X, 2048 MB DDR5, DP, HDMI
- Motherboard = ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD970 ATX
- RAM = 2x KINGSTON HyperX/4GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM
- Hard drive = SEAGATE SEA BARRACUDA 1TB 3.5" SATA3 7.2K 64MB

This versions will work in your computer :

Zotac GeForce GTX 970, 4GB GDDR5, 2xDVI/HDMI/DP, PCI-E 3.0
Inno3D GTX 970 OC HerculeZ X2, 4GB GDDR5, PCI-E 3.0
Gigabyte GTX 970 ITX OC, 4GB GDDR5, PCI-E 3.0
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 ACX 2.0, 4GB GDDR5, 2xDVI/HDMI/DP, PCI-E 3.0
Palit GeForce GTX 970, 4GB GDDR5, DVI/3xMiniDP, PCI-E 3.0

You should go with EVGA , for solid performance and quality, being the top notch in NVIDIA GPU's
Whoa whoa whoa......!!! Did you say next summer? An year later?
Ask us when you are going to buy. The market will change a lot in the next year with AMD's zen and possibly HBM2 and nVidia's pascal coming out.

To wich direction from where ?

EDIT: oh nvm that was a stupid question...

The R9 390 it's a very power hungry card . The OCZ 500W CX is a low end PSU (tier 4) , meaning that you have to change it , unfortunately.

This would be a nice and pretty cheap solution for your problem.
EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W - 59.99$

Unfortunately that is way too expensive here, in finland. It is around 100 €, I cant afford that much on a PSU. Do you have other PSU's to recommend ?

you should just get the 970 if your budget is tight, the 390 really requires a beefy psu to run.

in online games, or games like gta5 you will be cpu limited though

But it hurts to buy 20 € more expensive worse GPU 😀 And I can spend the extra 100€ on PSU but I really dont want to if I can buy a cheaper one.

look here then:

you want a tier 1 or 2 power supply 650w or better.

No, undortunately I cant find that one
