is overkill harmful for the gpu

i have gtx 970 amp! extreme edition, 8 gigs of ram,i5 4690k (no oc),and a 1366*768 hd monitor so they told me that there would be overkill but is that harmful for my gpu? i just want something to las thats why im buying this good gpu on this shit monitor
 
Running such a powerful rig on such a low res is going to cause some very minor issues, because it'll be producing some insane frame rates.
As an example I get the original Far Cry running at over 400FPS-all max settings-on a 1080 screen with the same CPU/GPU!
This causes a lot of excess heat to be produced, not a problem, the cooling systems can handle it, NO WORRIES, but it'll make the system noisier than it might be so I'd turn Vsync on, either in each game or the Nvidia Control Panel.
