Yeah, now they're innovating! The Galaxy S III will now fit in normal hands too! So innovative! Seriously, guys, it's what the S III should have been: a phone, not a damn semi-tablet.

The whole industry was moving towards larger phones (do you see any recent releases that aren't larger than previous ones). So this is for those who still want smaller phones.

It's nice to see that there's at least one company that is looking to make a high-end small phone. Alot of others treat smaller/lighter phones as "low end".

There are still those out there that prefer a small and light weight device.

The iPhone 5 is one but not the other, and it's a fair bit lighter than the iPhone 4S, which is also one but not the other. Can't have it both ways, it seems. 😛

If it is similar specs but smaller screen (hopefully 4 inch) it sounds like a winner. If it is just a re-branded Galaxy Ace 3, then my time has been wasted.

iPhone fans wanted a larger screen for years and what did they get in the iPhone5? The same exact size screen only a few pixels longer. So all the text is the exact same size, all the icons the exact same size, and the the exact same small Keyboard buttons. Yes it is 4 inches instead of 3.5 inches but only benefits you in apps that give you extra real-estate for pinch to zoom, like web browsing.

Well some of us Gen X'ers are getting old and our eyes are not what they used to be. We need the bigger screen to see the numbers 😉

If they create a smaller S3, with similar performance and capability, and only reduce the screen to less than 4 inches (3.5 would be the sweet spot for me personally), and increase the thickness a bit if they have to in order to maintain battery life, then it will be my next phone for sure! All these big screen phones are just not for me, as I do not take advantage of the screen very much. I do not watch videos, read or write lots of emails or browse much on my phone (current phone is 4.3"). I do however like the touchscreen interface, so I can't go back to traditional phones, and I do not want small phones with slow hardware that make the user interface slow and frustrating...

I'm small size and I like the size of my SGS3, I had a iphone 4 before and it was too small.
The SGS3 is the perfect size for me and probably many.

Yeh cause, you know, they blow!

I like the 4.3" phones, but I think the GS3 is great, too. Different phones for different people. People act as if that's a bad thing.

Because choice is a bad thing, you should buy what they give you and have no say in it, that's how Apple has operated for years and they sell millions, right?
...
Well, Android phones come in every size, shape and colour under the sun and they still outsell iPhones by 4 to 1, I think the consumer has spoken.

We should be talking about physical size of the phone instead of the screen size.
Just because Apple is stupid and sucks at screen utilization, doesn't mean you can't hold phones.
How is your iPhone 4/4S fitting you? it's barely smaller than my TMobile SGS2 in physical size.
How is your hand fitting into "perfectly sized" iPhone 5? It's only a little thinner than my current SGS2.

I held an iPhone 5 before, it's stupid and awkward... The physical dimension of the phone is as big as any of the top current phone...

This is awesome for me. I'm still rockin a Droid Incredible (the first one), and have refused to upgrade based not only on the fact that the phone is still working perfectly fine for me, but also that you can't find any smartphone smaller than an undersized tablet these days. My 3.7 inch screen is about as big as I want it to be. If I want a bigger screen for something, I have a PC for that, and probably don't my phone to do it.

Okay, let's help the downvoters out. Couldn't figure out what I was referring to?

There we go!

if this is true, then i think this is a good move for samsung, those who think that gs3 is too big for them, then there you go a small galaxy. With the same hardware, bigger battery (i dont mind a bit of weight honestly), or even the same battery given the smaller screen size, i think this would sell. Give it like a 4.1incher, not 4 coz apple might sue again.
