IS SLI REALLY WORTH IT FOR GAMING?

How can you prove this? Two 6800 Ultras in SLI will destroy a 7800 GTX. Your statement makes no sense, because it's all guessing. We've never had two card setups like this to compare with.

haha its funy you should say this, maby you should look at the winter 05' VGA charts right here on thg... the 7800gtx actually beats the 6800 ultras in most cases but overall is quite even and you would see it even out at higher resolutions

If you'd learn to spell and use punctuation, I'd take you seriously.
Now, it’s really mixed. You’re right about some games, but there are very many that support SLI. F.E.A.R. on the max ran better on two 6800Ultras than a single 7800GTX. Either way it doesn’t matter, because I’ll end up buying a “G80” in June.

haha yo im 16 years old and i coudlent give a rats ass about punctuation or spelling but when it comes to computers i know my stuff , i will agree with you that it isent across the board , it definetly isent if you look at games like hl2 sli actualy hinders performance, but the general rule of thumb is that: for higher resolution go with sli, if your looking for effects; lots of shaders and filtering go with the newer model, and if your a spoiled brat or you got cash , go with both 😀

Oh yes,I was reading the reviews on the Power Supply and it seemed that it blew out on and the people after 24 hours of use. I'm going to use my previous P4 Thermaltake Purepower 450W, i hope it will be enough to power the 8800gt, 3 hd's, dvd burner.etc?

I have a same dilema, to be hones, I plan on only playing (caring for) new Age of Conan. On my 20" Samsung LCD I play 1600 x 1200.

I assempled the rig a year ago (E4300 @2.7 Ghz, 4 Gb RAM, Vista 32) and I just upgraded my year old 7900 GS 256 with a new EVGA 8800 GTS 320 Mb.

Than a friend who upgraded his EVGA 8800 GTS 320 with new 8800 512 GT, gives me his old one (exact same as mine), for my second PC - but it can't fit (I have PCI Express but damn card can not fit!)

So do I SLI?!

But my GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 Mobo does not do SLI...

So where is the bang for the buck (I have $$$ but don't want to spend too much on PC that is a year old):

1. RMA to newegg 8800 GTS (tho I cut the box and mailed in rebate, can I?) buy 9600 GT or 8800 GT 512?
2. Buy for $100 Asus P5N-E SLI mobo and SLI these two?

With 7900 GS I was getting 4,400 on 3DMark2006, oc-ed 4,700, with 8800 GTS 320 I get 7,900 OCed to 600/500 and 900/780 I get 8,900. If I SLI two of them can I OC???

My PSU is ENERMAX EG495AX-VE FMA 485W, is that enough?

Thanks for your help!
