Im a total noob and have just about no idea about computers at all. However, from the research Ive done Ive come to the understanding that my pc has some good specs, yet it seems slow for simple processes like navigating the windows 10 start menu, or launching apps and etc.

CPU: Intel I7 9700F
16 gb of ram
GPU: Geforce RTX 2060 Super
This is what I think i've singled the issue to out to be, both of my storage Drives are standard 500gb HDDs. Ive been looking at getting an SSD but I wanna make sure Ive found the weak link before I go and make any decisions. Hard drive 1 has about only 1gb of free space and hard drive 2 has about 220 gb free. I also have used an external hard drive (my internet is bad so installing games via laptop at a better connection onto the external drive is easier, although im aware that that could potentially be having an performance impact aswell?)

I really dont know what the issue is, I can run games on ultra and high settings, yet Adobe premiere pro will have a malfunction if i try to open menus or files too fast and constantly stops responding, ive even had task manager stop responding on me. Simple things like launching spotify take about a minute and etc. Sometimes I will click on things and they wont respond AT ALL.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is my OS drive, so then maybe the lack of free space is causing issues then. If i were to get an SSD would I be able to move the OS to that SSD, that would help with performance as well?

Having only 1GB of free space on your OS drive is not good for the temporary files, virtual memory, windows updates etc and a HDD slow down when it fills up. You should at least leave 10% of it free.

Yes a SSD would be a good upgrade. It's totally night and day difference. Your booting time should be around a minute right to get to the desktop? With a SSD it's around 15 seconds. Programs and games launch faster. Games map loading and respawn loading is faster. Moving files is faster. HDD to SSD is really a good upgrade. The only thing it...
Hi Stickbear.

The HDD 1 with 1GB of free space. Is it your OS drive? If it is remove some stuff and leave around 10% of free space on your OS HDD.

The only thing it doesn't do is giving you more FPS in games.

Reduce the space taken on your OS HDD drive to around 300GB and buy a 500GB or 1TB SSD and clone the OS HDD to the new SSD using a program like Macrium reflect or AOMEI backupper and everything will be as it is right now on your screen. Nothing changed. Nothing to reinstall.

Or you can just reinstall Windows on the SSD using a USB flash drive with the latest Windows 10 using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. This option would mean reinstalling your programs and your games that can't be just restored from inside the gaming platform like Steam.
