Is Task Manager wrong about my CPU usage?

MSI afterburner says that all my CPU's are all really low usage, but Task Manager says otherwise, this is a relatively new install of windows, less than a week old, all drivers are up to date and newest bios installed for the motherboard, im not sure if Task Manager is just wrong, or if Afterburner is, and if Task Manager is right i need ideas on what to do to fix, i have tried looking around for ways to lower CPU usage and nothing so far is helping

Edit: if i end task on whatever it is saying is using most of the resources then another random task just replaces it

look at the bottom of the MSI part, i have CPU 1-16, so i just picked the one that was acting up the most, i will try to get a better one

realtemp GT doesn't support second gen ryzen cpus yet, but HWMontior says the same as same as Afterburner, that the usage of all the CPU's is next to nothing. and i just got out of a game without a crash so i know my CPU isn't sweating

Yea, I'd try checking windows updates, see if that corrects the issue. Also I'd check to make sure I have the latest motherboard drivers, etc. Other than that, I can't see why you'd have a pegged CPU. One other thing to try is opening task manager and sorting by CPU usage, as it doesn't look like we're seeing the whole picture there. I suspect there's something else farther down the list that is what's pegging the CPU.

it corrected itself about 3 or 4 hours after i made the post, i checked my thermals and everything to make sure that they went overheating and skewing the results too. as far as i can tell, the issue is just that my x470 motherboard is still rather new and i unknowingly entered a crash course while MSI and AMD still figure out what needs to be done to make the components be the best they can :/

Glad to hear that it worked itself out, somewhat lol. I almost messed my trousers the first time I booted into Windows and CAM started to flash and beep. After about an hour of going to the bios, CAM, HWMonitor, Ryzen Master, and CoreTemp, it became clear CAM hadn't been updated to handle Ryzen second gen. Was a big sigh of relief when I figured that out.
