Is the AMD A8-7600 Quad Core APU good for a mid range gaming system?

Hello. I'm still looking and researching for parts to build with my pc. After considering Intel or AMD, I've concluded that AMD is theoretically better in terms of cores, built-in GPU, and most importantly, the price!

I am comparing this to the Intel Core i3-3220 which is a HyperThreading Dual Core and the APU A8-7600.

What convinces me to go with AMD is that it's newer, cheaper, and theoretically better.

I need your help, guys. My goal is to build this system by January. I am only going to do light photoshop, medium-usage Video Editing, and mostly for Gaming.

I also want to know real-world performances in games such as: Dota 2 Reborn, CS:GO, League of Legends, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Left for Dead 2, and hopefully, newer games.

Please explain your answers supported with facts :)

My Mid-build planned build is:
-AMD A8-7600 Quad Core APU
-Built in Graphics with the APU
-4GB of 1600 Kingston RAM
-Ice Edge Mini FS v2.0
-MSI A58M-E33 Motherboard

Solution
AMD A series do not make good gamers for modern games, look to use an Intel i5.

What is your budget and I'm sure a gamer at TH, will come up with a good spec.

For now, I'm aiming for a <= $110 processor

My purposes for this Budget CPU is for light-gaming. Maybe just enough to max out Dota 2 Reborn. The quad-core really got me because during my gaming, I usually play music and browse the internet at the same time (seems like a common thing now.) I don't have the budget for either of those.

I can only choose between this AMD APU (Or similar ones, please suggest), and the Core i3-3220. My main focus for this should be the GPU, which I'm also saving for, but prioritizing the CPU first, overall-performance (surfing, video editing, etc.)

If that is the case the i3 dual core with hyper threading would be your better bet. AMD doesn't have hyperthreading which is part of the reasons they are cheaper and while you get more power at a better price the threading is not fully utilized during certain processing peaks. If you are only doing light gaming and not to much of anything else then either will work fine. Also add me to your steam, I also play dota. SannikK. Puck is my favorite hero ^^

for light gaming it wont matter much. Most games dont utilize all 4 cores or at least not to there full potential.

AMD is like building a highway where there is on ramps everywhere so while you have alot of space and a higher speed limit, the traffic can get gummed up if their is too much of it.

Intel is like a 4 lane road where the speed limit is lower but much more organized and traffic doesn't cause slow downs and everything is constantly moving.

Again, either will work fine for Dota.
