I'm going to be building my PC soon, and I've been back and forth between AMD and intel... Basically, should I go with the Intel i7 4790k OR should I get this combo deal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1752014 all I would like to be able to do is run minecraft shaders at 60+ FPS...

So...
1. Is this CPU good for minecraft WITH SHADERS/adobe programs/multitasking?
2. Can the Motherboard in the package deal handle a GTX 970?
3. Should I get this over spending $100 more on the intel i7 4790k+Mobo+cooler?

Thankyou!

The Intels also perform better in gaming. I would definitely go with the i5 4690K and a good cooler.

but he is doing multitasking... the 4690K is 4 cores... performs worse than the fx9590.

Keep in mind that AMD chips are good value multitasking solutions... you benefit for image/video editing and such, on a budget, but single thread performance is worse than i5's...

The ultimate solution for both worlds is the i7 4790K... but the prices reflects it.

And yes, that FX is good enough for a gtx970

Is this better than the i5 4690k? Also, I'm on a budget so bundle deals really help... It comes with the h100i for cooling as well...

i5 4690K (4 cores, 4 threads)= great single thread performance, not so good multithread. Average cost.
Any FX AMD (8 cores, 8 threads) = bad single thread performance, good multithread, usually cheap.
i7 4790 (4 cores, 8 threads)= great at both... but very expensive.

Truth is, i5s are better at gaming since current games are not optimized for multithread. One can only hope that games may start being optimized for multithread since Xbox one and PS4 are using AMDs cpus :)

Any of the CPUs above can handle the gtx970 with no problems... the mobo will handle it as well. Make sure to get 8 GB or RAM and you are good

Go with the 8350/8370 instead, cheaper, cooler, and almost as fast. I have an 8370 w a gtx 660 and I get 60+ fps with triple monitor minecraft at maxed settings... minecraft isn't all that taxing.

Edit: my system cost me 650$ total without the monitors.
