Is the corsair h50 good cpu cooler?

is this a good cooler for non overclocked q6600?i know there are better solutions but i want to retain both side fans on my cooler master storm scout case

for a non overclocked ofcourse it will, but from what i've read the h70 will do a lot more cooling, but if you're not overclocking dont see any reason for it.

would the h70 be more significant as for standard cooling over he h50 is it worth the extra 40 bucks?

It is but is it worth it over a conventional air cooler is another story. There is plenty of conventional air coolers that will allow you to do what you want with none overclocked Q6600 as an example http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103084

the hoses on the h70 are a bit shorter i read, maybe something to consider depending on that case you're using, the storm scouts i looked at didnt have side fans so not sure which one you're using.

No... It is overpriced for a non-overclocked system. I would go with this air cooler instead. Scythe SCSK-1100 100mm Shuriken Rev. B 3 Heat Pipes CPU Cooler

i dont mind spending an extra few dollars for a better product i want my components to last as long as possible

The H50 isn't better product. I would go with Air Cooling any day of the week over the H50... IMO

If you want the benefit of water cooling, you are looking at rough $200 to $300 for a proper setup.

I would rather use the H50 or H70 instead of air. Most air coolers depend on the internal air flow and temp inside the case. These water coolers are attached to the back, side or top and blow air through the radiator directly from outside the case usually giving you cooler air. Or you could look into the coolit watercooling also. I've used the Domino ALC on a couple builds and it's good for a mild overclock, (example - i7 965 form 3.2 to 3.8 temps just at 68*C). Don't get me wrong - nothing wrong with air, I just prefer water!

good point just trying to get viewpoints from everyone to make an intelligent decision for my purchase i love building pc's so many parts to choose from and different styles and personalities put into each build
