Is the Corsair H55 good enough?

I have an AMD Radeon XFX R9 280X and an AMD Athlon X4 760K. Recently my pc has been getting crazy hot and I learned that my gpu is causing the cpu to overwork which makes it overheat. Since I don't have enough money to buy a new cpu that would go well with the card, I can only upgrade the cooler (I'm currently using the standard heatsink). I've done research and I'm planning on buying the corsair H55 water cooler. My question is, is this cooler strong enough to cool down the cpu to a cool temperature? If you have any guesses on what the temp. of the cpu would be with this cooler while playing for example H1Z1 or other gpu demanding games, please let me know! Thanks.

All the Corsair CPU coolers will be fine as long as they fit your motherboard's socket type. All have good performance as well. The H80i is one I personally have in my first build, but I just installed a H110 into my sister's PC and there is nothing wrong with it. Go for the one that fits you application and case. They CM Hyper 212 EVO is a good standard air cooler that fits any budget. If you want a liquid cooler to free up space and remove heat as soon as possible then the Corsair CPU coolers will be fine.

Update: If you have the budget for it and space inside your PC case, liquid coolers are the way to go if you want clean aesthetics and superior cooling when it comes to overclocking if you ever wanted to get into that.
What computer case do you have? The case's airflow also matters a lot. And what do you mean by crazy hot? What sort of temps do you see from a program like CPU-Z or GPU-Z, or MSI Afterburner?

A new cooler would definitely help. A H55 would be an improvement, but I'd argue air cooling is where you should look. Water cooling is good at the higher budgets, for cheaper than the H55 you could get something like Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo or Be Quiet! Pure Rock air cooler (both $35) that would be quieter and cheaper.

The stock cooler is unfortunately not very good so any upgrade will help.

Instead of attacking my comment and myself, you should have more respect for others. YOUR opinion is that they suck and that you wouldn't spend money on it. Look into any water cooling solution and the heat will be removed from the CPU itself faster than if air was doing it. Obviously a custom loop would be more efficient, but just because you have problems with the product you might've had doesn't mean they all suck. And to add on, you attacked my comment and then supported the products I recommended all in the same post. So, please get your thoughts straight before you make any more comments.

Apparently you think very highly of yourself. This is not a "who has a bigger dick contest" and you have missed the point completely if you think you are being productive by slamming people you feel are less than you. Being as you read further into that then what I had said you grossly misinterpreted my meaning. You leaving out other factors that contribute to some air coolers to perform better than AIO coolers. For example, larger fans and higher RPMs. For the noise, AIO coolers will be quieter unless you are trying to max them out at all times which is completely unnecessary. As for overclocking, AIO coolers are more superior than air coolers and that has been shown by quite a few people. To explain what I had originally meant by air cooling more efficiently earlier was not in regards to these coolers specifically. Just by looking at the physics you can see that water will conduct heat and move it away from the source more efficiently than simply blowing air over it. Granted faster RPMs compared to slower ones, the fast RPMs for open areas will always cool better than slower. When using radiators like you would with an AIO cooler or custom loop you do not need the same high RPM fans in order to have the same cooling capacity. In fact, since you get higher static pressure fans which do not have the CFM as the previous fans mentioned will end up spinning a lower RPMs causing less sound or noise and still cool like the air cooler. Not to mention if you want a cleaner and more open look to your case then the aesthetics of the AIO coolers will be better. In regards to pricing, yes the CM 212 EVO is cheaper and better performance for the dollar, but that doesn't mean that the AIO coolers are crap since you wouldn't want to pay for them. And once again, you completely ignored the fact that you supported the products I recommended and then slammed my previous posts because you feel it makes you more correct. Which blows my mind that you can be so blatantly hypocritical just to down someones post.

If you guys want to send hate to each other all day, do it on something else please. I 'm just asking the community a simple question. I'm considering all of your comments and opinions. You don't have to fight over who knows what or who has the best opinion.

The H55 is going on sale on Amazon for $49.99 right now. Is that a good deal?

No problem. Thanks for the info.
