Hi,

I've been using the Corsair HX1050 PSU on my computer that I built in November 2014. I plan to build a new computer later this year to replace my current computer because it has been having issues recently. The specs for my new gaming computer:

AMD 7950X3D
RTX 4090
32 GB RAM

Link to the Corsair PSU:

  1. Is my current PSU compatible with my new set up or do I have to buy a new PSU?
  2. What about using RX 7900 XTX instead of RTX 40 series?
  3. I want to keep my computer for 8 years or so like the current one I'm using. If I absolutely have to buy a new PSU, would you recommend a 1000 W or higher?
  4. Preferably I want a black and white theme build for my next computer, is the Seasonic Focus GX-1000 a good PSU? What about the Phanteks AMP 1000W?
  5. Is there any good PSU rated at 1200 W or higher in black and white? This is not a deal breaker, just a preference.

Thank you

HX was a good model, but it wasn't designed with the higher power spikes of a 4090 in mind. Almost 10 years old too, so your warranty coverage is either over or about to expire.

Time for a new one. Corsair still makes good stuff, though the white RM850x is pretty expensive.

All white Superflower Leadex V, but doesn't have a native 12VHPWR connector. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/r9...ully-modular-atx-power-supply-sf-1000f14tp-wt

Right now I would probably take the Thermaltake though:

Focus GX would work, but you would have to buy the 12VHPWR cable or use the adapter that comes with the card.

Thank you for your recommendation. 9 years ago I thought a 1000 W PSU would be enough for the next build only to be greeted by reality of a 600 W-devouring monster of a GPU. "You're welcome," says nVidia is what I can clearly hear from the background case fans noise running at full speed. "Make sure to buy an expensive cable compatible with our brand new socket." Thanks for rubbing it in.

I found out that the Phanteks AMP PSU is a rebadged of the SeaSonic Focus GX because even the marketing language of the two companies of the respective product line is the same. I think I will get the AMP v 2 unless the 12VHPWR cable is included with the Focus GX when I build my next computer later this year.

Is there any RX 7900 in white? Unfortunately I can't seem to find any through the magic of Google.
