Question Is the CPU upgrade worth?

May 8, 2015
So currently I'm running a i5 6402p with 1660Ti and was confused what to upgrade to between a i5 10400F with H410M-H or a Ryzen 5 3600 with a cheap B450. My main use for the PC is going to be 1080p gaming and a bit of streaming League of Legends/COD here and there. In India, the 10400F + H410 will cost me about 250$ whereas the 3600 and B450 are gonna cost me uptill 360$. Will I see a significant upgrade in FPS or should I just continue saving up for a few months till AMD releases 5600(non-X). I plan to get a new PC in like 3 years, so I just want the upgrade last me that much. It's fine even if the PC isn't strong enough to stream Warzone, if it can record clips at decent quality I'd be happy with that aswell.

Current Rig:
CPU:i5 6402p
GPU:Zotac Gtx 1660ti
RAM:8x 2133 Mhz, 8x 3200 mhz Corsair Vengeance
Motherboard; Gigabyte B150M D3H
Well, to answer your question, they are both pretty evenly matched from a performance point of view. The 10400 eeks out a lead in most games, but you are literally talking about just a few FPS. In terms of multicore loads, the 3600 is ahead of the 10400f in most tasks. Two pretty evenly match CPU's.

In this case, because the Intel build is cheaper, but equally good, I'd go got that right now. With that said, I'd sell you current ram, and get a 2 x8gb matched kit of 3200mhz ram. Your current setup is hobbling your CPU a little. Your 16gb of ram is effectively running at 2133mhz.

The 10400f/3600 will last you three years, with a GPU upgrade along the way. The 1660ti is still pretty strong at 1080p high hz (game dependant.)
