I got a good deal on an HP 1240t with an i7 3770, and I've been upgrading all the weak points.
I've Installed a Samsung 840 Pro SSD, HIS Radeon 7870 with IceQ, and an Antec 550w PSU (probably should have gone 650w in hindsight, but I think it'll be fine)...
Everything is working fine, but I keep flirting with the idea of maxing out the RAM. It's got 8GB of 10600 installed, thought I'd go with 16GB of 12800... So, I head over to the Crucial site with plans to get some sort of Ballistix kit, but the scanner says only regular sticks will work (12800 with a CL of 11, or 10600 with a CL of 9). I see no reason why the Ballistix Sport 12800 CL=9 wouldn't work, but crucial says it's a no go...
The MB is a Formosa IPMMB-FM made by Pegatron, which as I understand is a part of ASUS. The chipset is Intel Z75, it can support up to 32GB memory of the dual channel unbuffered non ECC variety.

So, what do you think? Is Crucial's scanner playing it too safe, or should I go with what it recommends?
Additionally, am I going to see a difference going from 8GB 10600 to 16GB of 12800? I plan to use this computer primarily for gaming and audio/video production.
