Well... I'm considering buying an external SDD so I can use it as destination for my fraps .avi files. I have read on several places that the write speed of an sdd is much better in comparasion to an hdd, so, I think that would solve the lagging problems I usually get while recording more demanding games.

As external sdd's are usually more expensive, the only one with decent storage capacity and reasonable good price I managed to find was this one.

It says the read speed of this ADATA sdd is of 550mb/s, while the write one is of 520mb/s. However... after reading this, I found that the actual read|write speed is actually of 486mb/s|182mb/s respectively.

What should I trust now? Is this sdd actually good or should I get another one? What do you guys recommend? (also, please, don't link me to newegg stuff... I can't get their products since I don't live in the united states).

I've not used an external SSD, but trying to squish SSD speeds through a USB connection will do two things. Disappoint you, and fatten their wallet.

Write teh .avi to internal SSD, and copy externally for later use.
