So ive been recently struggling on a choice between two CPU's.... The Intel i7 6700 or the i7 6700k, Now I know one can overclock one and the other can't but is it really worth it??

I can save about $50 with sticking with the i7 6700 but can anyone tell me is there any BIG difference where I should spend that little extra on the overclock or just stick with the non overclockable?

(If it helps Im an animator and I game occasionally but I do not render animations with the CPU, I render with the GPU)

Thanks for your feedback

If most of your work is gpu based for rendering and you're not real big into games the 6700 should work fine. Whether or not it's worth it is a personal choice, everyone's budget and sense of 'worth' is different. Later on down the road in 4-5yrs an overclock might help an aging system remain relevant a bit longer, the flip side is it costs more. Some people prefer not to overclock, pocket that additional money and instead upgrade a bit sooner down the road. You won't be facing a necessary upgrade in just a year or two because you got the locked i7.
