Hi,

I need some help with building a PC mostly out of spare parts I have lying around. Before someone writes that I should buy myself a better CPU: This is not meant to be a first / main PC. I have more than one modern PC. This PC is meant as a second-PC for my father in case his first PC breaks.

The problem: The motherboard of and old Pentium D engineering workstation with a Quadro (still working) can only support dual-core Core 2s. But I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300. The Core 2’s motherboard has stopped working a long time ago.
So, I am looking for a suitable motherboard.

I came across the FUJITSU-SIEMENS D1826-G41 LGA775 DDR PCIe x16 (https://www.ebay.de/itm/NEU-MOTHERBOARD-FUJITSU-SIEMENS-D1826-G41-LGA775-DDR-PCIe-x16/201954172914?hash=item2f05681ff2:g:ES0AAOSwbiFZP5Pz).

Since I want to prevent running into the same issue as with my existing ASUS motherboard, I tried to figure out if this motherboard can be used with the Core 2 Quad. I have failed to find a definite answer.

Therefore, my question is: Is the FUJITSU-SIEMENS D1826-G41 LGA775 DDR PCIe x16 compatible with the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 4x 2.50GHz socket LGA 775? Another one: Does that motherboard use DDR2 RAM? The site only mentions RAM: DDR. However, even the Pentium D was already using DDR2.

Alternatively, I am open for suggestions of other motherboards. But I would prefer buying just the motherboard since I already own the processor and have plenty of DDR2 and DDR3 RAM lying around unused.

I would appreciate your help.
