I bought a FM2+ motherboard for the upcoming A10-7850k APU. However, I decided against getting the APU because I didn't think it would hold up well in 1-2 years for gaming, so I decided against buying it. I now what to get a FX 6300 and a graphics card. However, I don't have the receipt from Newegg for my motherboard, so I was wondering if the FX-6300 will be compatible with FM2+ socket motherboards? (Specifically, I have the MSI A88XM-E45 motherboard.)

My understanding is that your "receipt" on Newegg is your invoice, which you can always access at any time in your Account History. That shouldn't be a problem.

Honestly no reason to not go ahead and get the a10 over the Athlon unless you are trying to save some cash.

Having the apu is a nice backup incase your gpu dies and unless you are attempting to run high resolutions and multiple gpus chances are you wont see much of an impact of the 2 module vs 3 module cpus.

Also the a10 7 series run the new core design vs the Athlons and FX running pile driver. While not to much better than pile driver the new design is still better.

I don't think I'd be able to return it because I gave away the Battlefield 4 voucher that came with the motherboard. Regardless I may go and try to request the return. Thanks!

I play at a 1680x1050 resolution so Kaveri would perform smoothly. But I think in the long run a 750k would be waste and so will the 7850k, it makes more sense to me to get the FX6300 ($89) and R9 270 ($120) instead. but for a backup? Hell yeah I'll probably buy 7850k for a backup.
