Im updating my several years old system, and thought on getting an i7 8700k, some Vengeance RGB Ram and a Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 5 Mobo, but I wanted to ask, is it good?
I don't usually overclock but I might do this time, I love all the RGB features on this board, It overall seems like a perfect board for the price, is it recommended?

Solution
Yes, the Gaming 5 is a solid mid range motherboard. I have had several Gigabyte boards and have had good experience with them.

Pending pricing, I also like the Asrock Extreme4 z370. It is a solid board that has all the features needed for a decent price. If either the gaming 5 or the Extreme4 were significantly cheaper, I would go with the cheaper of the two.

Not a bad board by any means. Just depends on the features you are after, if it has what you want, then go for it. If you want it a little cheaper there is the gaming 3, or if you want to spend more there is the Gaming 7.

And if you want a Black/White board there are also the ASUS Prime boards which are quite popular.

I love the RGB on the Aorus, and the problem with Asrock motherboards is that in my country these boards are hard to get, and If I find a place, they are expensive as hell.

I am upgrading from an Asus P9X79, so all the features are quite new and exciting for me. The Gaming 7 is quite similar to the 5 as i've heard, and the 3 is missing all those beautiful leds.

In which way? Bios? I currently have an Asus P9X79, so worse than that might not be possible.

I think he means the MB software in Windows.

The Bios is fine IMO.

Other than they haven't released the F7 vers yet to fully support the I7 8086K, should be soon though from what GB said.

Which features can be controlled through the software? As I said, my current mobo doesn't really have a software so Im not sure what to expect. And will the F7 version improve these things to be desired?

I've been checking out Strix MoBo's quite a lot, but I simply love the looks on the gigabyte one, Compared to the strix one I think all the rgb and looks are much better on the Aorus, and Asus mobos on my country are quite expensive too, the Aorus Gaming 5 costs me 190 dollars while the Strix something like 225. Are Asus mobos really worth it? I can handle the software, I will use it just for the RGB so doesn't really bother me.

Should be a CPU Micocode update for the I7 8086K, the Windows software gets updates here and there.

You can control just about everything from the Windows software if you wanted to.

So towards software there's nothing to worry right? Since it will be updated.

No, nothing to worry about.

Then Ill get the Gigabyte one, I love the RGB, and upgrading from the P9X79 is better in any way, that mobo is so old and lacks so many technologies, don't even know why I got it.

I have the Gaming 7 and love it... built it back in April, with an 8600k. No complaints other than I wish Fusion could control my Corsair Vengeance RGB Ram.

I recently added a Deepcool 3-fan RF120 kit to complete the Gammaxx GT... the dark tint in the Meshify C case really does a great job of minimizing any glare from the RBG LED's.

Yes the Extreme mobo is one of the best, but not as great RGB as others.

By any chance, can you guys recommend me a X470 mobo? I was going for the 8700k but now Ill get the Ryzen 7 2700X for sure. The thing is that the X470 chipset is so new, manufacturers are still making boards, so there are like 10 X470 boards.
