[SOLVED] Is the GTX 1650 supposed to be the GTX 1050 replacement?

From the leaked photos seen so far, it appears to require aux power. An 8-pin in fact! Is Nvidia changing their naming conventions again? What will they call the replacement to the 75W slot-powered GTX 1050/1050 Ti?

Most likely GTX1650 and/or 1650Ti will be 75W cards. If the AMD Navi RX3060 (75W, GTX1060 performance) is at all true, Nvidia will need a card in this performance/wattage category.

That's the point. Not if the photos that I posted above are true. The card has an 8-pin header!

I guess we'll know in a month! Also keep in mind with these 75W cards, that there will inherently be some "OC" versions that come with aux power. There are 1050Tis that do this.

$180 seems like the appropriate point on the curve to be. That's at or below the price of an RX580 8GB which appears to be ever so slightly faster. Of course Nvidia gets the advantage of not having to sell a card with 2x the VRAM, so they've still got a nice little profit margin to lay their heads on. There's currently RX570 4GB cards on sale for $120-135 though too.

Do you really think the OC version of a 75W card would be equipped with an 8-pin (150W) header?
Rhetorical question. I don't know either, but like you said... we'll know when the cards are released.

8 pin aux headers are increasingly common on modern PSUs. No doubt a 6 pin would suffice, but maybe straight wattage isn't the reason?
