I'm thinking of upgrading my gpu so I can play games (especially fallout 4) with better fps, but Idon't know what gpu to buy. My budget is about $200.

my pc specs:
fx 6300 3.5ghz (not overclocked)
sapphire r7 265 (not oc)
8gb ram
xfx 550w psu

edit: will any gpu work with any mobo? Or is it restricted to one brand (nvidia vs amd)?

No there will not be a bottleneck with the 960 providing you overclock the your cpu, after further review of your setup a 960 is about as far as I can recommend for an upgrade.

If u r buying now then get a r9 380, its stronger than 960, offers 4gb vram and available at 210 usd. 960 also offers 4gb vram but is weaker and will stretch ur budget to 240 usd or so. U can check for reviews of these two gpus here at tom's.

if u can wait, then get a gtx 970 by increasing ur budget...
gud luck building...
