You need update the bios before you put the new CPU. try find somenthing if you buy a new one... What version of bios this MB have...

I dont know, can you reccomend a motherboard that would be out of the box compatible with this cpu?

try find someone can update for you, or try contact the seller. tell what processer you want and if the motherboard have the bios to work on this cpu.

(2013.09.02 update) all motherboard before this date have the new bios.

we don't know if the motherboard or cpu will work right. the safest way is find some one with have one old cpu to upgrade your bios. before you install your new CPU. 3930k is 32nm sandybridge-e and the 4930k is 22nm ivybridge-e.

Its written clearly on the page that you may have to update BIOS depending on the version number. Now if you buy that MB then tell the shopkeeper to check the BIOS version for you, and tell him to assemble components, if it works then you don't have to flash BIOS, if it doesn't then tell them to flash the BIOS for you, they should help you on that.

Basically it will depend on the BIOS version, if its old then it might not work, if its new version then it would work. And read the link thoroughly and carefully.

I had the same problem bought an Intel i7 4930 K and an Asus Rampage IV Extreme motherboard
How i did it
Get the latest BIOS Update from the ASUS website upzip the file and rename it in R4E.CAP
File should be a CAP file and not a ROM file and your USB should be FAT 32
Put your sytem off and place the USB stick in the white USB port and press the ROG button 5 seconds in and relaese the button You will see that it is blinking
Wait till the blinking is over and restart your sytem
Wait on your screen till the complete update is ready

Hi together,

I google a lot around and replaced my mainboard until I found out that it's definitly compatible and works like a charm.

So common mistakes are:

Connect BOTH! power plugs. ATX and 2x4 CPU!!

When the CPU-LED is red, when you start your system, you have to flash your bios to the newest version.

If you have .ROM Bios installed, you have to flash the .ROM to .CAP Converter first:
Rampage-IV-Extreme-CAP-Converter at http://www.asus.com/de/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_IV_EXTREME/#support_Download

Put it on an USB-Stick (FAT32) and rename it RE4.ROM. Plug it in and hold the ROG Connect for 5sec. Then the LED should blink SLOWLY for a while. Wait until it stops blinking.

After that you can put the current bios version to your USB-Stick and rename it to RE4.CAP. Plug it in and hold the ROG Connect for 5sec. Then the LED should blink slowly for a while. Wait until it stops blinking.

You're done and your system should boot now!
