I'm currently using a Pentium AE G3258 processor at 4.7GHz, and I am wanting to upgrade. I am wanted to record game play (Using Dxtory), use Teamspeak and to play some of the big title games, such as Battlefield and Arma III.

For this, is it worth upgrading to an i5 (Saves money that I can put elsewhere) or should I go all out, and buy myself an i7 for my needs?

I should also let you know that I will be overclocking.

Ok so your best bet is going to be the i5-4690K.
NO...
If you are now using a G3258, it means that you have a lga1150 motherboard.
The i5-6600K needs lga1151.

Moreover, only certain lga1150 motherboards will let you overclock a i5-4690K.
The strongest cpu upgrade for a non overclockable lga1150 motherboard will, strangely, enough be a i7-4790K which runs at 4.0/4.4 stock.

NO!! See what Geofelt wrote above! Get the i7 4790K! Higher stock clocks!

The i5 is more then powerful enough for the OP's need even though the i7-4790K has initially higher clocks. Also since the OP will be OCing the i5 clocks can be pushed as high, if not higher (depending on silicon lottery) then the i7 and with the saved money they can buy a better aftermarket cooler.
