My Win10 box contains an NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti graphics card. I tried a 4k monitor and the card could not handle Fallout 4. The FPS was in the single digits. So, I went with the Dell S2240M @ 1920x1080.

My experience with a 4k monitor and this card seems to be at odds with a review I've read recently. PCWorld seems to think it should have been able to handle the 4k monitor...with ease.

Now, I've seen Asus is coming out with a new monitor, the Strix XG258. I am interested in the 24", 144 Hz model. Its native resolution is WQHD 2560x1440. So, my question is will my GTX 980 Ti graphics card be able to handle it? Will I get decent FPS numbers? If PCWorld is to be believed, the answer is yes.

it seems to depend on what frame rate you want: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/668825-gtx-980ti-will-it-run-1440p-144hz-w-60fps/

980ti can run 4k easy, but games are another story. My 980 runs 4k desktop but I don't try to play games on my monitor
