Is this CPU cooler a Liquid cooled or air cooled? What are the benefits of this cooler and what, if any maintenance would I have to do?

There is little to no maintenance with a closed loop aio (yes, the kraken in an aio cooler)

You just have to clean the radiators once in a while with compressed air if ur case is not filtered.

Once in a year replace the thermal paste between the cpu and cooler.

As for the benefits : doesn't require a tall case with 150+ cpu cooler clearance.
Good overclocking headroom. Outputs the heat out of the case if used as a exhaust.
