Hey everyone!!

A friend of mine wanted to know if is the O/S Compatibility important
(I also wanted to know that 😛 )

He has a P5KPL-VM motherboard with windows 7 (but in the site of asus is said that the o/s compatibility is up to vista not 7)

He has P5KPL-VM with Core 2 Quad Q6600 (not OC) , 4gb RAM , 9600 GT ASUS HDMI Edition

So does the O/S compatibility matter?
and
What are the consequences of having a non compatible O/S??

Solution
what power supply are you running. ? reboots are usually a hardware (but not exclusive) to a memory, video, or power supply issue.
but to answer your question, not related to the operating system, (least likely anyways)
The motherboard was launched before Windows 7, 8 or 10 existed. That doesn't mean it will not work. I have a similar one, P5QPro with Q6600 and it has worked flawlessly with Vista, 7 and now 10. By the way, I had a 9600 GT as well, at the time!

so there will be no problem??
Because sometimes (not everytime) when he starts his computer it restarts almost right after the windows startup
and I though that the mobo's O/S compatibility might be the cause

well actually I have no idea about the power supply
I didn't think about it and I didn't asked him about his PSU
But These problems started after he changed from windows vista to windows 7 (I was the one who changes it)
Before that everything was ok

It started after He formatted his pc and then he installed windows 7
before it was fine (I formatted his hard drive and I installed his windows 7 in the hard drive)
He had vista
