My GPU has been giving me heat problems for a while now and I'm looking at the NZXT Kraken G10 as a solution.
Unfortunately, I have no idea if it will fit on my graphics card. I've got the R9 280X. (Will check exact model and update thread)

So my question is, does anyone know if it will fit on my GPU.
Also, how effective is this cooler?
Any known alternatives?

Yes it does, but you may require a copper shim for fitting.

The G10 is just a bracket, you need a cooler to use also, I used a Corsair H55 which worked very well. I would suggest getting some small heatsinks and some thermal sticky tape for the VRMs also.

I'm aware I need to get a cooler as well.
I've got no idea about the rest.
Could you maybe give me a brief description of what I need to do with the copper shim and heatsink for the VRM's
Does it involve a lot of extra work or expenses

Sorry but I've got no experience with GPU cooling
Would appreciate all help, thanks

Its pretty straight forward. A copper shim is just a plate of copper to just add height to where the GPU cooler is screwed into the card/bracket, However, apparently the reference 280x doesnt require one.

People tend to just buy the little copper heatsinks and some thermal sticky tape to attach them, very simple and cheap:

Attaching the G10 and the H55 cooler is pretty easy if you can use a screwdriver :)

That's very detailed thanks.
I've got the MSI 3 Gig Battlefield 4 Edition if I remember correctly so I'm guessing I'm gonna need to use a copper shim.

Any idea what the overall price would be.
I've got about $150 to spend but spending even that much sounds a bit much as I plan on upgrading late next year.

Do you know of any other cheaper solutions?

Theres the Arctic accelero Xtreme IV (280x version) which includes everything, but not sure how much they are

Also, it can be worth simply removing your current heatsink, cleaning it out with compressed air, and reapplying some new thermal paste. Often this alone can solve graphics card heat problems.

Is this the right link for the cooler: http://www.comx-computers.co.za/872767006942-Arctic-Accelero-Xtreme-IV-High-End-VGA-Buy-p-127070.php

Seems much simpler and cheaper.

The currency is in Rands as that's the currency in my country. It's about $70

I think I'll take your advice and reapply thermal paste first.
Just some quick questions.
Can I use normal thermal paste?
Also, what are the application methods and stuff (How much do i apply and where)
Like I said, I've never touched the subject of GPU cooling before so I really appreciate all help

Arctic MX-4 works well, has no curing time.
Make sure you clean off the old paste first, using some isopropyl alcohol can help remove it.
You just apply a pea sized amount to the GPU chip itself, then let the heatsink spread the paste when you clamp it back on with the screws. Its really easy.

I can use any thermal paste though?
Will try and get the Arctic mx-4 but I've already got some cooler master and thermaltake lying around

Yeah any paste should be fine.
